Beautiful richly colored and intricately worked vintage Plique-a-jour enamel butterfly brooch studded with Marcasites and tiny Rhinestones. I would guess this to be an Art Nouveau revival piece. Plique-a-jour enamelwork (loosely translated as "light of day") resembles stained glass as it allows light through, and is sometimes referred to as "backless cloisonne".
